Why I shoot RAW

During the last years I shot all of my photos in jpeg format.  But after reading and hearing so much about shooting in RAW format I finally gave it a try and found this Vimeo learning video on Adobe Lightroom.

It completely changed my thinking about all this. In the end the whole video is about how great this peace of software is, but it demonstrates very lively the differences between jpeg and RAW photos. If you do not want to watch the whole video, just start at 16:40.

So finally I abandoned my “no image processing, just pure shots” path and always shoot photos in RAW from now on. The disadvantage is however that files are very large and you have to convert RAW into jpeg in order to show them on other computers (or just shoot always in RAW + jpeg).
